Once again, I am jumping around military history subjects, from the Russian Civil War to the Thirty Years War. But I want to know more about the latter for the simple reason of curiosity. I know even less of 17th century warfare than the 20th.
I blame my childhood education. Most of my history classes tended to use quick, broad strokes in order to rush to the American Revolution. That's not enough for me. Granted I need to read more on the various aspects of the 17th century: political, religious, etc. but the eventual rewards will be satisfying.
My time spent of job hunting both immediate and long term have cut into my time. Yet, I manage to read a chapter or two of various books on the period before bed. Yes, I'm fun at parties. :)
So after my all-too-brief post about Swedish King Adolphus, I need to read further, specifically the tactics and organizations of the forces before and after the military reforms. Yet, there is some satisfaction in light posts, even in such a complex subject. No need to tire you people with long ramblings.
Until later...
